Americal Eclectic is proud to unveil one of the largest and most complex vessels ever created by the California master Ron Pippin. Spanning an impressive 42 inches, this “Flagship” from Pippin’s celebrated Armada series represents the pinnacle of his maritime deconstruction.
Named with a cryptic numerical title that evokes the history of boundaries and navigation, “5440” is a tour de force of texture and shadow. The hull is a masterwork of hand-stitched leather “repairs” and wax-treated timber, while the soaring masts carry the “skeletal” rigging that has made Pippin’s work a staple of the Hirshhorn Museum. This is not a model of a ship, but a monument to the endurance of the soul—a massive, silent vessel that anchors any space with its profound industrial and organic presence.
